Job Description

Intel Labs is seeking computational researchers to pioneer a new class of algorithms targeting Intel’s latest generation of neuromorphic processors. Our goal is to exploit neuromorphic and related non-von-Neumann architectures to solve real-world problems with orders of magnitude gains versus the best known conventional solutions. We are interested in a wide range of algorithmic domains including pattern recognition, function approximation, dynamic control, probabilistic inference, sparse coding, general optimization, and symbolic computing using offline, online, or on-chip learning. We are pursuing a similarly broad application space including vision, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and largescale scientific and big data problems. As an algorithms research intern in our Neuromorphic Computing Lab you will be responsible for developing practically useful algorithms by drawing from state-of-the-art computational neuroscience and machine learning understanding. This work may involve collaboration with Intel’s external academic and industry partners with hands-on work spanning high-level modeling to bare-metal programming depending on your interests and expertise.

Qualifications

Experiences listed may be obtained through industry experience or academic coursework.

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree in Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Computer Engineering, or a related field

Enrolled in a PhD program with a focus on machine learning or neuro-inspired computational algorithms and applications

1+ year experience/expertise in Python and/or C with the ability to design and write quality code

At least one year of experience in modeling spiking neural networks

Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals and mathematics
