Fall Semester 2020 Internship Opportunity

  • Preferred to have experience with Canva


Start: August 31, 2020

End: November 23, 2020

(12 weeks total)

A flexible 10-15 hour work week, including team meetings with the executive director each week to receive guidance and mentorship, discuss a weekly task focus, and explore new ideas.

Fall Semester Internship Team Goals

Higher Education Partnership, Research & Sales

  • Research and identify colleges and universities with active LGBTQ+ student organizations and/or campus offices for LGBTQ+/multicultural student affairs
  • Identify points of contact
  • Maintain a spreadsheet with this information
  • Represent TPN in making introductions to points of contact
  • Support outreach efforts to coordinate programs among multiple schools

Private Sector Partnership, Research & Sales

  • Research and identify private sector organizations with LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and/or Diversity & Inclusion staff
  • Research and identify LGBTQ+ community organizations via Centerlink
  • Identify points of contact
  • Maintain a spreadsheet with this information
  • Represent TPN in making introductions to points of contact
  • Create sponsorship proposals tailored to private sector partners

LGBTQ+ Special Event Fundraising Support

  • Identify and contact potential corporate/local sponsors for one special event
  • Annual NJ LGBTQ+ Awards Dinner (10/23) (virtual)
  • Help support our marketing plan for the Annual Dinner
  • Engage with TPN’s social media (over 15,000 combined followers)
  • Draft a press release
  • Create a flyer
  • Distribute marketing and connect digitally with local LGBTQ+ businesses in Asbury Park to secure both in-kind and monetary donations

Program Development

  • Develop a strategy for our Social Innovation & Impact Grant initiative
  • Create a mentorship program as part of our Social Innovation & Impact Grant initiative
  • Further develop our alumni engagement/comms strategy and generate unique content
  • Create a strategy for and develop our professional development program (virtual)
  • Collect, analyze, and visualize pre-assessment and post-evaluation data gathered from virtual EMERGE+ training participants to monitor program impact


Interns will grow in professional value through developing competencies in:

  • Administrative skills (task management, resourcefulness, detail orientation, etc.)
  • Fundraising and development

  • Graphic Design (basic)


Due to significant budgetary constraints under current circumstances, interns will not be financially compensated.

However, interns will have access to our EMERGE+ leadership training program materials (valued at $495 per participant), and will be strongly considered as candidates for a TPN Social Innovation & Impact Grant (up to $2,000) should they wish to submit a project proposal via online application.

Furthermore, interns will be able to rely on The Pride Network for ongoing mentorship, personal development, professional networking, academic guidance, and support as they navigate their professional trajectories.
