Global IT is seeking full-time interns. The Technology Intern will assist in the design and implementation of many unique and challenging projects. Through hands-on training, the Technology Intern will learn about project design, planning and implementation, different enterprise technologies, and about high standards of customer service that can be broadly applied to any industry. The scope of each internship will be tailored to the intern’s strengths and experience, building on the individual’s skills.
We are looking for interns that want to make a positive impact in the world. The selected interns will work on important projects that help our organization move forward in our mission of conflict transformation through the application and use of technology.
We are currently working on deploying some of the most advanced technologies throughout the countries where we work. At the moment, we are working with Microsoft and Salesforce to design and implement solution for global device management, single sign-on, donor and program management, financial analysis, and to continue to provide the best-of-breed technical support to our more than 500 users around the world.
At this time, we will only be inviting one new intern to join us. However, we accept applications on a rolling basis. Interns must be able to commit at least 30 hours per week.
The internship has an anticipated start date of September 8th, 2020 and possible End Date: December 11th, 2020; a $195 monthly stipend for 3 months will be provided.
Due to ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 which may require WfWI employees to continue to work from home in the Fall, interns may, therefore, be required to work remotely for a part of/the duration of their Fall 2020 internship. Further information will be communicated with hired interns regarding a possible one day in-person orientation, as well as making remote working arrangements with their supervisor.
The list below indicates the types of IT projects on which the intern might work-
- Enhance and develop our Help Desk operations both in headquarters and worldwide throughout our field offices
- Document all requests submitted to our Help Desk ticketing system
- Follow through on assigned projects from start to finish
- Offer excellent customer service to all members of the organization
- Assist other members of the IT team with related tasks and projects
- Provide remote support to users
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
- Possesses or currently pursuing a degree in any field related to information technology
- Good writing and communication skills
- Solid Internet research skills
- Independent worker not needing close supervision
- Self-starter; organized; detail-oriented
- Experience and interest in providing front line support to staff
- Interest in international relations
