LinkedIn’s Data Science team leverages big data to empower business decisions and deliver
data-driven insights, metrics, and tools in order to drive member engagement, business growth, and monetization efforts. As a Data Engineer intern in the Data Science team, you will be responsible for building tools and data pipelines to provide data insights and improve productivity, which will directly impact various cross-functional teams such as product, marketing, and engineering across the company.
You will work with a team of high-performing data science professional and cross-functional teams to enable and scale data insights.
You will learn the state-of-the-art in data pipelines and hands-on experience working with data science and business partners on understanding data needs and executing data solutions.
You will design and build efficient and reliable data pipelines and data models to empower data customers to confidently measure product and business success and run data analytics projects at scale.
You will build data expertise, act like an owner for the company, and ensure best practices and standards in our data ecosystem.
This is a full-time internship role based in Sunnyvale, CA
This internship will take place between May – September 2021
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
Experience with coding languages Python OR Scala
Experience in the Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, M/R, HDFS, Pig, Hive, Presto, etc.).
Expected to complete degree by December 2022 or earlier
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
Experience with Spark performance tuning.
Experience in developing data pipelines using Scala.
Experience with analyzing data to discover opportunities and address gaps.
Knowledge of data infrastructure, framework and design.
Understanding of technical and functional designs for Databases, Reporting, and Data Mining areas.
Knowledge of Unix and Unix-like systems, git and review board.
