Hiring patterns show which schools dominate Wall Street pipelines and what non-target students can do to close the gap.

Inside Investment Banking Target Schools: What LinkedIn Data Reveals

Investment banking hiring is not evenly distributed across schools. LinkedIn data shows that certain universities continue to dominate Wall Street pipelines, giving their students earlier access to alumni, information, and recruiting opportunities.

For students outside traditional target schools, this does not close the door. It simply means the strategy needs to be more deliberate. Non-target candidates must build credibility through technical preparation, internships, finance clubs, competitions, networking, and highly focused outreach.

School brand can open doors, but it is not the only factor. A strong candidate story, early preparation, and credible proof of interest can still create a path into competitive finance roles.
