Job Title: Research Intern

The Challenge

Adobe’s EP (Emerging Product Group) team is seeking a Research Intern to join our product team here at HQ in San Jose, California!

This is a team that explores next-generation product opportunities empowered by artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, computational photography, and augment reality (AR). This is the team that has produced mobile products like Adobe Photoshop Camera, and Adobe Photoshop Fix & Mix.

What You’ll Do

  • Our team works like a startup inside Adobe, making this is a unique “best of both worlds” opportunity.   • You’ll have strong input on the direction of this new product category while working directly with the experienced startup entrepreneurs leading this project.
  • Research and Develop AI/AR capabilities.
  • Develop, implement, test, deploy, and support our mobile app on Android and/or iOS.
  • Collaborate with our designers, product managers, researchers and visual effects engineers.
  • Make an impact while building a rewarding career at a new growing division within Adobe

What Is Needed For Success

  • Graduate student (either M.S. or Ph.D.)
  • Strong programming skills (such as C/C++ and Python)
  • Strong prototyping skills and interests to explore new technical ideas
  • Experience with deep learning tools (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow, Caffe, and etc.)
  • Experience with deep learning applications

The challenge

The Emerging Product Group is exploring approaches for Adobe’s next-generation products promoting consumer creativity and imagination. With the goal to design a new class of innovative imaging algorithms, we are investigating broader range of mathematical tools. In relation to that we

are looking for creative and self-motivated talent to fit in the position of Research Intern to help with the project.

What Will Be Expected From You

As an intern, you will work closely with other researchers on exploratory project targeting to expand the area of applied math with new methods. Individuals in this role are expected to have demonstrated programming skills and experience in developing algorithms to solve imaging problems. These are based on applied math methods that include linear algebra, projective geometry, computer vision, light field, etc. Background in some specific area, for example computed tomography and Radon transform, would be a plus. Background in graduate level mathematics will definitely be a plus, but is not required.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Experience solving imaging problems with some of these methods: Linear and multilinear algebra, computer vision, light field, computed tomography, other mathematical methods
  • Programming skills including some of these: C/C++, python, GPU programming, matlab
  • Strong passion for algorithm development and prototyping
  • Comfort analyzing data of different modalities such as images, video, light field
  • Ability to work independently and strong communication skills
  • Enrolled in M.S. or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Applied Math, or related
