Responsibilities

Position overview:

The Intern, Product Marketing works with the Product Marketing Manager(s) to assist in growing the sales and profitability of the Metagenics product line. The Intern, Product Marketing assists in in creating, coordinating and executing the strategies and tactics for product development, marketing and sales of the products in the portfolio. This position is involved in a broad range of marketing activities including market research, market analysis, planning, scheduling, budgeting, product development, advertising, sales support, PR and communications activities for the product categories. The Intern, Product Marketing will assist in specific project responsibilities under the direction of the Product Marketing Manager(s).

This role requires strong partnering with functional leads and key stakeholders in Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, Sales, and several other technical departments to drive product development. Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects of varying scope under tight deadlines.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist the Product Marketing Managers in developing and executing the marketing strategy for various products in the Metagenics product line
  • Assist the Marketing and Education teams in market research, marketing analysis, planning, positioning, budgeting, collateral development, advertising, PR, product training
  • Work with Marketing, Education and R&D to support product development and product improvements
  • Work with Product Marketing Managers to conduct market research on a product management to determine trends, opportunities, create product positioning and pricing, create forecasts, understand the life cycle of the products in the category and develop marketing programs
  • Work with Product Marketing Manager assisting in overseeing specific products to plan, measure and manage the overall advertising, PR, communications and collateral literature production
  • Work with the marketing managers to develop, implement, monitor and analyze various digital marketing initiatives.

What You’ll Need

Experience / Training / Education

  • Must be currently enrolled in a BA/BS program or possess equivalent experience with emphasis on marketing or branding
  • Proficient in essential computer software including all Microsoft Office programs. Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, InMotion, and Wrike is a plus
  • Experience coordinating the editing, review, and approval of marketing material. Experience with nutraceutical, medical foods, or dietary supplements is a plus
  • 1+ years previous marketing experience, preferably involving health care products and/or healthcare providers
  • Training or experience in managing budgets is a plus
  • Project management
  • Basic understanding of product development process is a plus
  • Understanding of positioning and pricing
  • Experience with graphic design, copy writing, advertising, PR, communication, planning and literature production

Knowledge of

  • Basic marketing principles and processes. Experience in the nutrition marketplace is a plus
  • Product development/planning process
  • Creative process including design, production, and printing
  • Knowledge of inventory, forecasting, and budgeting processes

Skills/Abilities

  • Must have good motivational, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to independently define problems, collect data, establish facts, prioritize, and draw valid conclusions to accomplish goals
  • To be a “quick study”, able to understand new concepts and product areas quickly and have the affinity to read and understand medically based information
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks/responsibilities and meet expected timelines

  • May be required to work beyond standard business hours to complete work or projects
  • Travels by car and air on behalf of business
  • Meets all applicable safety requirements for the position and work environment

Physical Requirements/working Conditions

  • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
  • Lifts up to10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments
