留学生眼里的美国职场是什么样子?(二)

相信很多同学都会有疑问,在美国职场中亚洲人如何自处?

在此就以我自身经历为例,在投行公司内部竞争中,怎么体现自己的优势?又有哪些办公室文化我们需要注意的?

提前了解公司文化,也有益同学们在面试相关岗位的时候做到心中有数。

首先,在投行里职场新人应该注意些什么?

第一重要的就是业绩,要在短时间内/新手期的时候速度熟悉工作任务,在新手期的时候大胆问问题,有什么需求都应该主动说出来(很多同学,可能我以前也是这样的,很多事情,都想一个人扛,自己去解决,不想麻烦别人,最后走了很多弯路)。

全职员工和实习员工,公司对你的要求会不一样,全职员工需要在短期建立你所在的组和你的信任感,也就是交给你的活,你能在规定时间完成好。

熟悉组里面的文化( culture & dynamics ),讲真每个公司,每个部门都有自己的文化,人和人都不一样,通过不同的event多认识点人,多了解其他组在做什么,可以不停的反思和寻找自己的 next role。。。

遇到一个好老板,真的算很幸运的了,但是大公司糟心事都挺多的,要学会自己排解一下,比如生吃个柠檬解解压。

同时在美国的办公室文化里沟通 & 换位思考尤为重要。

周围看到了很多人,专业能力很强,但是在表达上面很难清楚的表达自己的述求。

也有些人,为了突出自己,方式过激或者欠考虑,伤害到了其他的同事,伤了和气。

我觉得这些事情,重在沟通,如果你觉得不舒服,就应该表达出来,千万不要哑巴吃黄连亏。。。同时也要学会换位思考。

很多时候你需要和你的上司汇报情况。当你在做汇报的时候尽量做到言简意赅,列出几点(公司里面,每天邮件特别多,太长也没人能读完)。

如果老板几天没有回复,需要自己及时的去follow up 一下,either email / or stop by if you can.

也可以约一个时间跟老板表达自己的诉求,但同样的也要做到言辞简单,直入主题。
