Insight Global is looking for an Entry-Level Engineer to join the team of one of their top clients in the energy industry in Schenectady, NY. This role is within the Configuration Management team. The Configuration Management team is responsible for turning engineering requirements and design concepts into clear, usable product definitions. These definitions are used by teams across the company, including supply chain and engineering, to build and deliver turbine systems. This role focuses on managing the structure and materials list for turbine and generator projects—from the moment an order is placed until the equipment is up and running. It also supports upgrades and modifications to existing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage product structures and materials lists for turbine and generator systems, ensuring they are accurate and complete throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the transition from sales to execution, helping define the scope of work and ensuring it’s properly documented and handed off to the right teams.
- Work with engineering teams to confirm that product configurations match customer selections and resolve any issues that arise.
- Review preliminary materials lists for turbine and generator projects to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure standard parts are correctly selected and support efforts to streamline the ordering process.
- Help manufacturing and sourcing teams resolve issues related to materials and timing, and monitor the quality of materials data.
- Participate in change management processes, making sure updates to product definitions are properly tracked and implemented.
- Collaborate across departments—including sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, and design—to improve processes and support continuous improvement.
- Follow company procedures and contractual requirements in all configuration management activities.
Qualifications:
- Technical Degree (Associates or Bachelors in Technology-related field).
- Or, if no technical degree, candidate should possess at least 2 years of relevant working experience in engineering field
- Familiar with Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to work in a professional environment that focuses on teamwork during various design phases
- Self-starter and tech-savvy individual
